MEXIA - A traffic stop turned deadly in Mexia Monday morning after a suspect was shot with an officer's Taser. Mexia officers pulled over 44-year-old Adren Maurice Turner after receiving several calls about a suspicious man in the area of a business on Milam Street. As officers attempted to take Turner into custody, a scuffle ensued that resulted in one of the officers's deploying his Taser. Mexia EMS responded to the scene and transported Turner to Parkview Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Limestone County Justice of the Peace Ray Jones ordered an autopsy to be preformed and the suspect's body will be taken to Dallas County Medical Examiners Office. There were no injuries to the three Mexia Police Department Officers, who were involved in this incident. At the time this story was posted, all three officers were still on active duty.

There were no signs of resistance by this suspect when stopped earlier in the evening by a Mexia Police officer. This case is currently under investigation by the Limestone County Sheriff's Office, Limestone County District Attorney's Office, as well as Company F Texas Rangers out of Waco, Texas.
